Sobieski Hotel Warsaw hotel

"Jan III Sobieski" Hotel is a very characteristic spot on the hotel map of Warsaw due to its original colorful façade. There are various opinions about its attractiveness some say it is visionary, some say it reminds them of cheap fairs. This pastel façade is, without any doubt, very original.
"Sobieski" welcomes us with a spacious, half-circled hall. A guest already has a choice: which direction to choose.

Rooms

Having left the restaurant you have to turn left to meet smiling ladies waiting to answer any questions or to check you in. This is the reception. After checking in you can go to one of 427 rooms in the hotel.
Rooms that you can book through this site are ones of a higher standard. The rooms for two people can be used double or twin, depending on whether a guest will put both beds covered with snow white sheet together or apart. There are little bed tables by each bed. Apart from that, you can find a table with comfortable chairs, a desk and a wardrobe in every room. There is also a small, neat bathroom with the toilet. Window view is of two sorts: a inner garden or the city view. It is the matter of preference, but to me the city view is much more attractive, and the noise is no problem as all the rooms are equipped with full anti-noise protection measures.
The TV-sets in every room bring the possibility to watch several local and some international information channels. There are, however, more interesting things to do in Warsaw than staying in a small hotel room and watching television.

Restaurant

In the morning, for a good beginning, or in the afternoon, to regenerate the best choice is to go left. On the left there is Café Alexander, where you can drink some coffee, eat a delicious dessert or choose from a wide range of snacks. There is over a dozen tables where over 50 people can sit down and relax.
In the evening you can rest in "Zbrojownia" Bar, drink one (or more…) of the royal cocktails or drinks, eat a dessert (personally I suggest taking Melba - vanilla ice-cream with whipped cream, strawberry syrup and almond nuts - delicious).
During the day you can have dinner in the hotel restaurant "Marysieäka", which is located opposite to the hotel's front door. About 200 people can eat in the restaurant at a time, but this huge number is not that significant when you take regular guests into account.
The most significant trump of the restaurant is its cuisine and chef - Robert Sowa, who is a member of the exclusive Chefs' Club. Thanks to him you can delight in such dishes like roasted duck with cardamom on aromatic apples and pears in Sliwowica (Polish plum brandy) or gratinated pork tenderloin with boletus in herbs, mozzarella and dried tomatoes. Although there is mainly Polish cuisine served in the restaurant, there is a range of vegetarian dishes, fish, Italian pastas and the cuisine from all over the world. You can enjoy all of those delicacies looking through a glass dome over the restaurant right into the sky. As the full dinner in the hotel's restaurant costs over 50 Euro per person (the quality and the place costs), you can eat breakfast and the evening meal in one of the restaurants located outside the hotel. There is no problem with that as the hotel has a very convenient location.

Conference rooms

There are seven full equipped conference rooms and five smaller ones. Combining Galleries and the restaurant makes it possible to organize a meeting even for 600 people. The customers willing to organize a conference in "Jan III Sobieski" have to remember about one thing, however. A convenient location of the hotel results in a large number of corporate clients, so the conference rooms have to be booked in advance.

Additional Services

There is a fitness club in "Jan III Sobieski" hotel. You can work out on a spacious gym, rest in one of two jaccuzis or in sauna. You can get a delightful massage or get a sun tan in the solarium. All of the fitness club service is free of charge, excluding the massage and the solarium.
You can get souvenirs in a shop in the hotel (there is even a shop selling carpets as its main product) or go to the hairdresser or a beautician.
During spring and summer you can drink your coffee or beer in the inner garden of the hotel. Just remember to be careful while carrying beer to the garden or maybe especially coming back to your room, because the doorstep is very high and a moment of carelessness may cost you a visit at the doctor's office.

A bit of gossip

You can meet people who are well-known from the theatre and music stages, television or sport events in the corridors and restaurants of "Jan III Sobieski" hotel. For example the following persons were the guests of the hotel:
- popular music - Candy Dulfer, Natasha Thomas,
- jazz music - Pat Metheny, Herbie Hancock,
- classical music - Krzysztof Penderecki, Jose Carreras,
- film - Andrzej Wajda,
- sport - Conchita Martinez, Polish Soccer National Team.

Sobieski Hotel Warsaw

- Location

"Jan III Sobieski" hotel is located in the centre of Warsaw at Zawiszy Square. Such a location enables you to get to the exact city centre with a wide range of restaurants, cinemas and clubs.
When it comes to the access from the airport there is a direct bus connection. The bus no. 175 coming from the airport stops directly by the hotel ("Pl. Zawiszy" bus stop). In such a situation you have to buy a ticket in one of the kiosks sellinf newspapers and cigarettes or directly from the driver. I suggest the first option as the drivers may have problems with communication in English. If you choose to travel by taxi you can take the Airport Taxi, the hotel taxi (there is a reception stand at the airport) or take one of the Warsaw taxi companies, which are much less expensive.
While getting to the hotel from the Central Station you can get a tram (lines: 7, 8, 9, 22, 24 or 25) or take a taxi (as mentioned above).
