Metropol Hotel Warsaw

Metropol Hotel Warsaw hotel

Metropol Hotel belongs to the most popular hotels among the guests coming to Warsaw. The most frequent guests in the hotel are tourists, however during the conferences you can also meet business guests going to the meetings with briefcases in their hands. The hotel's offer will satisfy those, who look for good fun, big city adventure and want to see as much of the Warsaw's attractions as possible. There is no problem with communication at the reception desk. The staff speaks Polish and English. If necessary, there will also be someone speaking French, German or Russian.

Rooms

The Metropol Hotel offers 162 rooms, including singles, doubles, seven rooms of a higher quality (de Luxe) and nine suites (about 50m2). When it comes to bathroom, a guest should not expect long, luxurious bubble baths. The bathrooms are quite small, with microscopic bathtubs. All of the rooms are equipped with central heating. Unfortunately, there is no air-conditioning in the rooms. Although during hot, summer days a guest can open the window, it is no relief. One has to remember that the hotel is located next to the traffic-circle considered by many Warsaw citizens the centre point of the city. The problem is gone during the colder days, as the windows in the rooms are anti-noise ones. There is a separate floor for the non-smokers. Separate rooms are also prepared for the handicapped. One should not get uneasy about the four stairs leading to two lifts. If necessary, a helpful man comes and installs a driveway for the wheelchairs very quickly.
All the rooms are arranged pleasantly, still not to richly; beds, bed-table, lamps over the beds, TV-set and a wardrobe are more or less all there is. Anyway this will satisfy the guests who are looking for the accommodation that doesn't do much harm to their wallets. Currently there is a renovation of the rooms being held, floor by floor. The old, long used furniture is replaced with the new one. The end of the first stage of renovation (the eighth floor) is planned for September 2006.

Restaurant

"Metro Jazz Club" is not a usual hotel restaurant with tables covered with white cloth. There is a unique atmosphere.
During the day "Metro Jazz Club" offers a selection of dishes from the Polish cuisine. The Chef, Andrzej Rodak, made it impossible to forget about the place after having eaten breakfast, dinner or any other snack there. For example, you can have baked chicken covered with cheese with mushrooms, fried on butter. The memory of this dish named by the Chef "Rooster and the foxy mushroom" makes your stomach start preparing for the feast.
After the renovation the "Metro Jazz Club" has lost its jazz atmosphere. Live concerts of such jazz musicians as: Bohdan Hoˆownia, Skolias or Trio De Janeiro are history now. But maybe not for long. Here and there, rumors can be heard saying that the Jazz Club will regain its splendor.
It is maybe not the most important, but surely quite vital to mention the prices in the restaurant. They do not exceed the level of prices in an average restaurant in the city centre. You have to pay less than 2 EURO for a mug of beer and about 8 EURO for the "Rooster and the foxy mushroom" mentioned above.
Metro Jazz Club is open from 6:45am till midnight, sometimes longer.

Conference rooms

The Metropol Hotel is not a place to organize large conferences. However, there are two conference rooms, which are perfect for organization of smaller conferences, business meetings and banquets. The bigger conference room ("Music Room") is prepared for up to 60 people, the smaller one ("The Club Room") for 20.
Both conference rooms are equipped with fast Internet connection and instruments necessary to organize the business meeting.

Additional Services

In front of the hotel, there is a parking the hotel charges for. It is worth considering as to park in Warsaw's centre you have to pay anyway.

In the Metropol Hotel, there is a paradise for the gamblers. The casino located in the hotel offers wide range of gambling service. A guest can play BlackJack, bet in the roulette game or try their luck with the fruit-machine. There is an exchange office in the hotel (in case a guest needs more money). I suggest using the common sense as gambling is more addictive than one could think,

The hotel is guarded 24/7. The service is provided by the professional agency.

Metropol Hotel Warsaw

Location

The Metropol Hotel is located in the heart of Warsaw. On the other side of Jerozolimskie Street there is a subway station (you just have to go through the underground passage), and behind the subway station there is the Palace of Science and Culture, built as a gift of USSR friendship towards Poland and the initiative of Joseph Stalin. Nowadays in the building there is a cinema, Congress Centre, where exclusive balls, meetings and concerts are being organized; other conference and banquet rooms, a swimming pool, Museum of Technology, Museum of Evolution and "Quo Vadis" - a disco which is very popular among young people in Warsaw.
Apart from that the localization allows getting to many Warsaw's attractions as fast as possible and carries all the advantages and disadvantages of staying in the city centre.

The nearest shop is located just around the corner (Nowogrodzka Street). There is also one in the Jerozolimskie Street (heading towards the Central Station) only a five-minute walk away from the hotel.
The nearest pharmacy is in Nowogrodzka Street, behind the "Lokanta" restaurant (a very good Turkish cuisine in pleasant interiors, I recommend it by the way).

The localization makes the hotel popular among guests who do not get easily discouraged by the pace of the city centre, who are looking for good fun and those who care about getting fast to all sort of financial or cultural centers. At the same time the price offer attracts those looking for accommodation for a reasonable price. The travelers seeking silence should choose some other hotel located further from the city centre.

To get to the hotel from a Central Station, you have to take any tram going to the Centre and go one tram-stop. The hotel is on the right. You have to take the underground passage to get to it.)

To get to the hotel from the airport you have to take the bus no. 175 and go to "Centrum" bus stop. Then you have to go back to the underground passage and the signs will lead your way to the right exit.

In both cases you can take a taxi. I strongly recommend against taking a taxi waiting directly by the airport or by the Central Station, as their prices are 50-100% higher than those offered by other taxi companies in Warsaw.
