The Museum of Warsaw Uprising
You can read about a recently built Museum of Warsaw Uprising in any travel guides about Warsaw. Nevertheless, it is worth mentioning once more. The Museum commemorates a very important event in the Polish history. The Warsaw Uprising was the last independence spurt against the pro-Soviet regime and against the Germans during the Second World War. The fights lasted 63 days, more than 200 thousand Poles, most of them civilians, young people and Polish elite were killed. As a result of the Uprising about 70% of Warsaw was damaged. Nowadays, some do hesitate if such a spurt was worth the costs. But do freedom and honor have any price?
The Museum of Warsaw Uprising is worth visiting not only because of the significance of the event it commemorates, but also because of the truly modern and multimedia exhibitions. It is one of the best organized museums in Europe. It makes a huge impression and is difficult to forget long after the visit...
